  • Product Details
  • The figure-eight blind plate is a type of pipeline fitting, primarily designed to facilitate the interruption of material flow during maintenance and cleaning of pipelines. Its shape resembles the number "8", hence the name figure-eight blind plate. It typically consists of two solid blind plates with handles and a gasket fitted in between, secured together with bolts and nuts, and installed between the flanges of the pipeline.

    Function

Isolate pipeline systems: In a pipeline system, when maintenance, repair, or equipment replacement is needed for a certain section of the pipeline, a figure-eight blind plate can be installed to completely isolate that section from other parts, preventing leakage of the medium during maintenance and ensuring the safety of the repair work.

Change pipeline flow: The figure-eight blind plate can be installed in different positions and orientations as needed. By switching the installation method of the blind plate, the flow direction of the medium in the pipeline can be changed to meet different process requirements.

    Material

Carbon steel: It has high strength and toughness, is relatively low in price, suitable for general industrial pipeline systems, and can withstand certain pressures and temperatures.

Stainless steel: It has good corrosion resistance, suitable for pipeline systems transporting corrosive media, such as in the chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries, but is relatively high in cost.

Alloy steel: It has higher strength and temperature resistance, suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure pipeline systems, such as in the petrochemical and power industries.

    Specifications

The specifications of the figure-eight blind plate are usually determined based on the nominal diameter of the pipeline. Common specifications include DN15, DN20, DN25, DN40, DN50, DN80, DN100, DN150, DN200, DN250, DN300, etc. Its dimensions and thickness may vary according to different nominal diameters and pressure ratings.

    Installation and Usage Precautions

Pre-installation inspection: Before installing the figure-eight blind plate, it is necessary to check whether the material, specifications, and dimensions of the blind plate match the pipeline system, check for defects such as cracks or sand holes on the surface of the blind plate, and ensure that the gasket is intact.

Installation direction: The figure-eight blind plate has two sides, and attention should be paid to the direction during installation. Generally, the solid side of the blind plate should face the incoming direction of the medium to ensure better sealing.

Bolt tightening: During installation, bolts should be tightened evenly to avoid uneven stress on the bolts leading to poor sealing. Generally, bolts should be tightened gradually in a diagonal manner until the specified torque is reached.

Usage identification: To facilitate identification and operation, the name, flow direction, pressure, and other information of the medium in the pipeline should be marked on the figure-eight blind plate, and clear signs indicating the switch status of the blind plate should be set nearby.

Regular inspection: During use, the sealing condition of the figure-eight blind plate should be checked regularly. If there is leakage, the sealing gasket or blind plate should be replaced in a timely manner, and the bolts should be checked for looseness and tightened if necessary.
